With all indication, it is like there is disagreement in the sharing formula of key positions in the party since the party just swept all the political seats at the just concluded general elections in Kano State.
The Agbo led faction in a communique claimed that the party constitution has being amended severally without following due process and procedure by a clique of individual within the system by the newly formed National Working Committee members were about eight states chapters of the old NNPP was unceremoniously dissolved but also also claimed that the letters of reinstatement of the suspended executive Chairman of the various states was issued.
Though, in the other hand, the Mallam Kawu Ali led faction claiming that , as a prelude to the 1st March, 2022, the National Executive Council met on the 28th of February, 2023 where all the organs of the party were dissolved in the presence in the Independent National Electoral Commission's officials making the party to have no board members, so the party was just on paper and running by just Dr. Boniface Aniebonam as the National Chairman and Dr. Gilbert Agbo Major as the National Secretary.
Just recently, precisely 29th August, 2023, both factions held their supposed National Executive Council meeting in order to meet up with INEC guideline on electing political party officers whereby, only the National Secretary and the National Chairman can sign all correspondence and Mallam Kawu Ali faction claiming that all members attended excerpt Dr. Gilbert Agbo Major that didn't attend since he was expelled but the Governor, Senators, House of Representatives and others attended the meeting.
He said that he was surprised that people who were suspended or expelled were the ones claiming to have suspended Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and also claiming to have dissolved the National Working Committee.
With this development, the general public is of the opinion that what is happening to NNPP is not different from what has happened and presently happening at the People Democratic Party, the Labour Party etc. Meaning that power tussle and sharing formula is the height of the game since all the previous agreement was just on the lip without any proper documentation.
