The Nigeria Military assured it's citizens on its commitment to tackle insecurity challenges.
This was made known through Major-General Edward Buba the Director of Defence Media Operations, while addressing Journalists of which yours sincerely was there at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
He explained that the reports came as a result of growing tensions and rising insecurity in the North-Central and North-Eastern, North-West, South-West and the South-South region of the country.
Then addressing the efforts the military is making to curb the recurring onslaught of unprovoked attack of the Christmas' Eve massacre on the indigenes of Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Magun Local Government Area of plateau State. Tha the insurgency and violent extremism or ethic cleansing as many will call it resulted in sacking of Twenty-Eight communities leading to the loss of life and properties as well as displacement of many.
The military through its various Operations and Joint Task Force initiatives with other military bodies has reiterated their commitment to eradicate insecurity and all Other terrorism vices in the country. The operations such as, Operation Safe Heaven in the North Central States of Plateau state has yielded much result and bringing succour the the victims of these Violent crimes as their troops has arrested several suspected violent extremist/insurgent groups and N such as Barkin Ladi, Riyom and other affected areas by the insurgency. It was also reported that the troops also foiled a kidnapping incidents in Riyom and Mangu Local Government Area of the Plateau state.
In a separate operations, air raids and ground offensive also took place in Bama, Gwoza and Gamboru-Nagala Local Government Area of Borno State. He also added that the troops also conducted fighting patrols in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau state all in and effort to curb the escalating violent crimes in the North-Central State.
In light of the growing but contained insurgency and terrorism in some of the affected regions, the military has launched several Joint Operational scheme and collaborative efforts to curb the surging rate of insecurity, criminal activities- such as kidnapping, Oil theft, violent crimes and extremism groups within the Nigerian territory.
Joints Task force in these affected regions. Operations such as, Operation HADIN KAI( North East). Joint Task Force Operation SAFE HEAVEN (North Central), Operation WHIRL STROKE (North Central), JTF operation WHIRL PUNCH(North West), JTF Operation AWATSE (South West),
Joint Operation UDO - AKA(South East) in a seeming turn of events in the Niger Delta region of the South - South, there's an ongoing operational measures, aimed at maintaining maintained momentum against the activities of crude Oil thefts. There's also an Ongoing effective Operation in this region- Operation DELTA SAFE which seeks to destroy illegal refining sites, and also the recovery of stolen Crude Oil in Obot Akara in Akwa Ibom Stae, kidnappings and engagements with violent extremist in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State.
With the relentless efforts and the noticeable achievement the military is making in keeping the nation and territorial boundaries safe, maintaining peace and security, we can only hope for an end in the security challenges facing the Nation.
