Alhaji Auwal Ibrahim Musa (Rafsanjani) the Executive Director of Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre in a ten minute talked about the aim and Objectives of his organisation.
He explained issues affecting the country and how best Nigerians should live their individual lives and how government officials should govern Nigerians.
Musa who started this struggle far back when he was in the university with a lot of experience since then. He then spoke with Comrade McDonald Azuju our Head of Security/Crime Desk at his Abuja office. Please read on.....
- AIM AND OBJECTIVES: The Executive Director believes that what CISCLAC are doing since inception is a continuous work that will continue to advocate for social justice, for good governance, for transparency and accountable system in Nigeria. That their work has no end since it is something that has to continue growing just as human beings continue to grow and act either negatively or positively. Therefore, there is constantly the need to draw the attention of the general public and the government officials to continue to do the right things because one cannot finish the work since both the society and the government are moving and new techniques are coming up as well. So we at CISCLAC cannot finish the work and mind you, our job is to ensure that both the general public and the government are cautious of taking the appropriate action.
-TAKE ON CYBERCRIME ACT/CYBER SECURITY ACT:- Well, there is nothing wrong on whatever the government is bringing, that is why I said earlier that our work is a continuous work, meaning our advocacy is not finishing over night. We are always ready to interpret whatever the government is introducing then follow the responses from the citizens. Though, many Nigerians believe that the act itself is extortion which was highly resisted because it was purely extortion from the government to the citizens.
-ANY MODALITIES FOR NIGERIANS ON CHECKMATING FRAUD IN THE GOVERNMENT CYCLE :- Every Nigerians are expected to play a complementary role to the government, though, the citizens can complement through providing credible information to the government and also not participating in the fraudulent activities because if they do then they won't be able to contribute immensely towards helping the government to curb fraud and even insecurity in the country. So it is fundamentally the work of the government to give the necessary support to be able to save the citizens in the country. It is only the government that has all the apparatus to provide security in providing security at all times.
-HOW IT AFFECT THE MEDIA: - It is not the media that is affected but all Nigerians since the traders are doing banking, ordinary Nigerians are doing businesses with the banks and even students are involve as well. So this has nothing to do with public funds or the so call cyber security since it is just purely and unnecessary exploitation and heavy taxation that has no contribution of what so ever to improving security in the country especially as the money will be going to where it is not going to be accounted for. So it is another security vote since it is going to the office that is not even constitutionally created without any mechanism which is going to be a very big challenge to everybody.
-HAVE CISCLAC ORGANIZED MEDIA WORKSHOP AND SEMINAR WITH MEDIA?
Yes, the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre has been organising similar properties and also working with sister organisations to help train and expose journalists for better reportage especially on the issues of investigation which has to do with corruption, fraud and other related issues. We have been developing media professionals with both local and international organisations on many issues.
-WHAT IS NEW:- We work on a strategic plan that is virtually captures the work that we do , we work around the anti-corruption agencies in and outside Nigeria to understand the cases of corrupt people that are parading around power and making life difficult for Nigerians. Our work in the area of peace and security still continues, excessive taxation to Nigerians for no reason still continues, we still work in the area of implementing proper democratic governance by ensuring there is proper electron by political parties by engaging more with international organisations like ECOWAS, African Union and the United Nations to ensure that Nigeria practice the rule of law is obeyed.
-PARTNERING WITH OTHER CIVIL ORGANISATIONS:- Well, we work with other civil organisations that have similar objectives with us. Note that each one of us has its own focus since some may be working on education, health, security etc.
ADVICE TO NIGERIANS :- Nigerians should always be law abiding then be responsive and responsible as patriotic citizens, be very very patriotic and stay away from doing anything that has to do with criminality or do things that will threaten Nigeria security development.
Thank you. 👍👍👍
