Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun the National Chairperson of the Police Officers Wives Association officially commissioned the association's Secretariat at the Utako District in Abuja.
The facility is set to serve as the operational hub for POWA's activities in Abuja and designed to support the welfare and empowerment of police families in reinforcing the association's commitment to their wellbeing.
The event saw the presence of key figures in law enforcement, including Mr. Ede Ayuba Ekpeji a Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Department of Operations who also represented the Inspector General of Police. Other dignitaries included are Mr. Benneth C. Igweh an Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7, and Mr. Vungwoh Kwaimo a Commissioner of Police in charge of the Force Federal Operations. Their attendance highlighted the strong bond between the police force and POWA in ensuring the support of officers and their families.
In her speech, Dr. Mrs. Egbetokun emphasized that the new secretariat symbolizes hope and support for police officers and their families. She described it as a space dedicated to the empowerment and well-being of those who stand behind the officers, often sacrificing their own comfort. The Chairperson reiterated POWA’s mission of providing a platform for growth, advocacy, and care for families of the Nigerian police force.
