POLITICS: Official, Rebuttal and Notice of Intended Legal Action

In a media statement issued by Mr. Azubuike Emmanuel Enebeli, (Zubby) the National New Media Secretary of the National Democratic Party explained that the attention of the party has been drawn to a false and malicious allegation credited to one Emeka Mba, on his Facebook page, wherein he claimed that the National Democratic Party is being sponsored or funded by His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, the erstwhile Governor of Rivers State.

The National Democratic Party categorically and unequivocally denies this allegation in its entirety. For the avoidance of doubt, NDP is an independent, duly registered national political party, funded strictly through lawful means, including membership dues, donations compliant with electoral laws, and other legitimate sources as provided under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act. At no time has the party been sponsored, owned, controlled, or funded by the FCT Minister, H.E Nyesom Wike or any other individual outside its constitutional framework.

The statement attributed to Emeka Mba is false, reckless, defamatory, and intended to mislead the public, damage the image of the party, and undermine its credibility before Nigerians and relevant institutions. Such baseless claims have the potential to incite public distrust and amount to an attack on the integrity of a lawful political organization.

The National Democratic Party therefore demands an immediate public retraction and unreserved apology from Emeka Mba, to be published on the same platforms where the false allegation was made, within seven (7) days of this notice.

Failure to comply will leave the party with no option but to initiate legal proceedings against him for defamation, false publication, and reputational damage, without further notice. NDP remains committed to issue-based politics, transparency, and democratic values, and will not hesitate to defend its name, integrity, and members against deliberate falsehoods and propaganda.
