Learn to live with your regrets. No need to fear what hasn't happened yet — Brokenpromiseland by Bon Jovi

The song Brokenpromiseland, from Bon Jovi's 2009 album The Circle, speaks about leaving behind shattered dreams, disappointments, and regrets in pursuit of a better future. Its message is simple but powerful: life does not end where our plans fail.

Sometime around 1995, as a deeply troubled law student at the University of Benin, I applied for a job as a Disc Jockey at a local radio station, Independent Radio, Benin City. Looking back today, I thank God for Abe Jarikre and Cosmas Omohinmi, who discouraged me from taking that path. Had I gone ahead, I might never have returned to complete my legal education.

At another point, I considered becoming a Christian missionary. Yet somehow, I discovered that returning to school was both easier and wiser.

Today, I look back with a profound sense of gratitude. What seemed like mistakes became miracles. Trials became either triumphs or lessons. Failures became testimonies of God's grace and mercy.

Life has a way of making sense of our broken roads if we keep moving forward.

The music is not over yet.
