Operatives of the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Alhaji Adamu Saidu Muazu a Deputy Commissioner of Police have arrested Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi the Director-General of the non-existing “controversial” Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council Osun State, according to information made available on Tuesday evening.
His arrest comes moments after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest. He allegedly created fake agency and scammed Federal Government 1.3 Billion Naira.
The arrest was confirmed by the Personal Assistant to the Force Public Relations Officer, Aminu Koji, in a brief statement issued to journalists.
“We have just confirmed the arrest of Mr. Adeniyi Adeyemi by a team of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) in Osun State,” Koji stated.
Although details surrounding the circumstances of the arrest were not immediately disclosed, sources indicated that the operation was carried out by the elite police investigative unit as part of ongoing law enforcement activities in the state.
The Intelligence Response Team, a specialized unit of the Nigeria Police Force, is renowned for handling high-profile criminal investigations, intelligence gathering, and operations targeting violent crimes and other security-related offences across the country.
