In line with the Inspector General of Police instructions on adhering to being proactive in policing Nigerians, the Intelligence Response Team of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Alhaji Adamu Saidu Muazu a Deputy Commissioner of Police reeled out their achievements for the month of August, 2026.
Mr. Ani Iniedu a Chief Superintendent of Police, the Police Force Public Relations Officer explained that the Muazu team arrested the followings:-
1. CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND FAKING OF KIDNAPPING, that a female of 34 years old Nansik Wuyep Sule was arrested while acting on credible intelligence at Jos in Plateau State and during interrogation confessed to have conspired with Catherine Davou the mother of a two year old boy to fake the child's kidnapping. That the child was hidden in Catherine Davou's residence while Luka Emmanuel Butdam allegedly made calls to the child's grand-mother demanding the sum of 15million Naira as ransom. Though, all the three suspects were arrested and the child was rescued and taken to hospital for medical attention and subsequently handed over to his biological father and investigation is on going.
2. KIDNAPPING AND ARMED ROBBERY, that on the 28th of July, 2026, the team arrested one Idris Mohammed alias 'Yellow' a suspected notorious kidnapper through tracking and got at Bauchi State where he was found in possession of a 2012 model Tayota Corolla with Vehicle registration number 'SMK 611 BF' allegedly abandoned during a kidnapping operation. Though, the vehicle was recovered and handed over to the rightful owner.
Iniedu emphasized that one Mohammed Bello Adam arrested in Nasarawa State in connection with the activities Idris Mohammed that investigations further linked the suspect to the kidnapping of Pastor David Dahni and Abdullahi Abubakar for which ransoms of 7.5million and 3million Naira respectively were reportedly paid, though, investigation is still on going.
3. CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY, KIDNAPPING AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION/DEALING IN FIREARMS, that on the 4th of June, 2026 the team received eight suspects from the office of the National Security Adviser that one Mohammadu Sani identified as the gang leader was arrested at the outskirts of Oweeri in Imo State with one A-K47 rifle and 30 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Suspects arrested are as follows:-

3. USMAN MOHAMMAD, ‘M’

5. IBRAHIM MOHAMMED, ‘M’

8. UMARU ABDULLAHI, ‘M'
That though the suspects were arrested at various locations in Imo and Rivers States and preliminary investigation revealed that the group had relocated from Kogi State to Port-Harcourt and was involved in multiple kidnapping operation in Rivers State. That the investigation also revealed that the suspects were involved in the illegal procurement and supply of firearms and a Prima-Facie-Case has been established against the suspects and investigation is ongoing.
4. UNLAWFUL DEALING IN FIREARMS, that one Yakubu Danladi Pam and Abdulsalam Mohammed Hussain was arrested on the 22nd of June, 2026 for for possessing and trafficking of firearms in the North-Central Region following actionable intelligence.

FOLLOWING INTELLIGENCE-DRIVEN OPERATIONS, ABDULSALAM MOHAMMED HUSSAIN, ‘M’, WAS ARRESTED IN JOS, PLATEAU STATE, ON 30TH JUNE 2026. ONE TYPE 06 RIFLE, TWO MAGAZINES AND TWENTY-EIGHT (28) ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION WERE RECOVERED FROM HIM. INVESTIGATION INDICATES HIS INVOLVEMENT IN THE SUPPLY AND TRANSPORTATION OF FIREARMS ACROSS THE NORTH-CENTRAL AND NORTH-EASTERN REGIONS, WITH EFFORTS ONGOING TO IDENTIFY OTHER MEMBERS OF THE SYNDICATE

THEY WERE ARRESTED FOR SELLING/BUYING OF ARMS/AMMUNITION. SEVENTY-EIGHT (78) ROUNDS OF 7.62MM AMMUNITION, FOUR (4) ROUNDS OF RED CARTRIDGES, LONG KNIFE, MULTIPLE CHARMS AND CASH SUM OF TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND NAIRA (#220,000,00) WERE RECOVERED AND HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AS EXHIBITS. THE COLLABORATORS ARE AS FOLLOWS; ALHAJI ABDULBASH IR, ALHAJI ADO GARBA, AND ALHAJI BABBAN KIFI ALL ‘M’ OF KATSINA STATE, WHO LURED THE AFOREMENTIONED SUSPECTS SEEING THE LUCRATIVE NATURE OF THE BUSINESS. THE FEMALE SUSPECT ACT AS COURIER TO DELIVER TO THEIR PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS, THE THREE COLLABORATORS ARE STILL AT-LARGE WHILE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.
Ani Iniedu concluded that THE NIGERIA POLICE FORCE REMAINS RESOLUTE IN ITS COMMITMENT TO PROTECTING LIVES AND PROPERTY AND ENSURING THAT CRIMINAL ELEMENTS AND THEIR NETWORKS ARE DENIED THE FREEDOM TO OPERATE. THE SUCCESSES RECORDED IN THESE CASES UNDERSCORE THE IMPORTANCE OF INTELLIGENCE-LED POLICING, SUSTAINED INVESTIGATIONS AND INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION IN CONFRONTING EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED THREATS TO PUBLIC SAFETY.
