The Nigeria Police Force recently advised Nigerians to do proper profiling of anyone they want to engage his or her services with the police before employment.
There are incidents of robbery where employees cart away with employers monies and valuable items is being reported across the country.
Recently, the operatives of the Special Tactical Squad got a report from one Mrs. Ndifreke Friday that one Elijah Emenike Nwosu who she had employed to work for her as a fashion designer abandoned his work post and had fled with her iPhone 14 pro, iWatch series 6, dell laptop, JBL Charge Bluetooth speaker and the cash sum of 1700 USD. The operatives placed efforts into gear and apprehended the suspect on 12th of February 2024 at Badagry Road, Lagos.
Upon his arrest and subsequent interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and stated that he had initially worked in Lagos as a fashion designer and received a request from the complainant to come and work for her at Abuja, to which he agreed since the offer was better than what he had then. He had been in her service where he was provided a work space and accommodation. About two weeks after working for her, he was no longer satisfied with the pay and decided to steal those mentioned items.
when the complainant was not around, he saw it as an opportunity to steal her valuable items and flee with it. After stealing these items and converting the foreign currency into Naira, he fled to Lagos with the hope of escaping into the wind, but was arrested by the operatives of the Special Tactical Squad of the Nigeria Police Force who traced him and apprehended him in Lagos State.
"I stole my boss items just to get money for myself since I sensed that I was about to be disengaged from my job, since she hired another tailor. To be frank, I regretted my actions and I pray God should forgive me then I pray that the youths like me to Nigeria should be more focus in whatever positive actions they doing by disengaging in bad behaviours since the strong arm of the law will catch up with them" Emenike Nwosu said.
